Dr. Lloyd Mandel is the Medical Director and supervising medical doctor at Back 2 Health Physical Medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. He attended State University of New York Upstate for his Medical degree and completed his residency at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore in 1972. He joined the Navy as a General Surgeon in that same year. In his long career, Dr. Mandel practiced in naval hospitals in Puerto Rico, Camp Lejeune North Carolina and the Naval Hospital right here in Charleston. After completing his service in the Navy, Dr. Mandel continued into private practice and was the medical director for Trident Hospital before retiring in 2010.
Dr. Mandel joined the Back 2 Health team in 2012. He likes working in our multidisciplinary practice because he believes that what we are doing “is an excellent adjunct to what other medical professionals like rheumatologists and orthopedists are doing. Our practice has excellent communication between patients, doctors and other healthcare providers.” He notes that “I am continually impressed by the efficacy of our treatments and the great responses that our patients have.”
In his free time, Dr. Mandel continues to use his hands to make incredible works of art through wood working and wood turning. He enjoys spending time with his wife and traveling.
